Kelly Preece

Kelly joined the FaCIT team in the summer of 2005. Both an alum and current student of CMU, Kelly earned her undergraduate degree in Graphic Design and Photography in 2002. She recently began persuing a masters degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Community Leadership. Kelly has been working in various design and technology capacities at CMU, and also as a freelance graphic designer and photographer, since 1998.

Kelly enjoys helping faculty to communicate visually in ways that enhance the effectiveness of their teaching. She is a strong believer that the right visuals, when used creatively and with good timing, can improve a student’s recall and retention of information, can make difficult concepts more clear, and can relieve stress and tension in the classroom.

Kelly specializes in design and layout for print, web and multimedia. Her daily duties include course material layouts, multimedia and web interfaces, custom PowerPoint templates, illustrations, charts and graphs, research poster designs, and large format printing. Kelly also provides faculty with training on a variety of applications including Photoshop, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver and InDesign.

Whether you are looking to polish established materials for your classes, create professional posters of your research, or need help finding ways to visually represent difficult concepts to your students, she would love to hear from you.

Outside of work, Kelly enjoys photography, acting, cooking, and is an avid reader. She volunteers most of her free time in downtown Mount Pleasant at Grace Church and at the Broadway Theatre. When she isn't there, you'll likely find her studying with a warm cup of Earl Grey in hand or spending time with some very dear friends.
