Staying on Course: Essential Tools for Educational Continuity - A One-Hour Conference

Have you thought about what you would do during a disruption on campus or with excessive absences due to illness? The Education Continuity One-Hour Conference has a keynote and breakout sessions including Wimba, Chipcast, and Blackboard. All of these tools are effective ways to continue teaching when traditional classes are not convenient, due to illnesses, building closures, or other emergencies.

Schedule:

12:00 - 12:30 :: Lunch w/ keynote presenter: Jim Therrell, Director FaCIT

12:30 - 1:00 :: Three breakout sessions to choose from:

  1. Wimba: (Dan Bracken) An overview of this online collaboration suite, including  a virtual classrooms, featuring voice, video, whiteboard and chat.

  2. Chipcast: (Phil Coffman)- Allows you to easily create re-usable podcasts of classroom lectures, software demonstrations, guest speakers, and student presentations. It also provides a way to easily publish your podcasts to iTunes U for easy access by your students.

  3. Blackboard: (Ireta Ekstrom and Jeremy Bond) New ideas for using CMU’s hub for course content and communication. Including a preview of Bb 9!


Space is limited! There is a limit of 40 on-site participants for this mini-conference. You may also experience the keynote and Wimba breakout session entirely online via Wimba.
