Grants
& Funding
FaCIT has funds available to assist faculty
with a variety of professional development
opportunities.
Professional
Growth Funds
(Funds provided by
ORSP through FRCE allocations.)
These
funds are set aside to foster curricular
and course improvement and to assist faculty
in developing curriculum and improving
their teaching by participating field related
event, conference, or professional development.
The Professional Growth Fund is provided
to support faculty activities related to
the development of courses, curricula,
and instruction. Allocations of up to $750
may be made to faculty who qualify for
these funds. There will be two rounds of
disbursements for this fund: November
15 and April 15. Funds must be used in
the fiscal year in which they are requested.

Service-Learning Small
Grants
FaCIT supports service-learning
as a pedagogical approach to integrate
the goals of your course with meeting
community need. These small grants of
up to $500 are designed to provide assistance
for travel to learn more about service-learning
or costs associated with integrating service-learning
into your course. As FaCIT’s mission
is directed toward assisting faculty, these
funds may NOT be used to support student
work in the area of service-learning. For
more information about these grants please
contact .
Learn and Share Fund
Funding
is set aside each year to assist faculty
in learning and developing resources to
share with other faculty. Examples of this
may include developing a new scoring mechanism
for grading oral presentations, providing
information on student learning styles,
or conducting a workshop on active learning.
Funding is based on amount of work involved
and overall benefit to CMU faculty. Amounts
may range from $100 to $3,000 per project.
For additional examples, see the online
resources currently offered by FaCIT.
If you have information you feel would
be helpful to other CMU faculty, please
contact
.
Grant Support Letters
FaCIT
provides letters of support for grants
written by CMU faculty for both internal
and external funding. If you are submitting
for a grant involving student learning
consider including a letter of support
from the Faculty Center for Innovative
Teaching. In the past, these letters
have been very helpful, as they come
from a center that is devoted to student
learning and is independent of any college
or department.
